History in the making !

Found this picture last night while organizing my computer folders. It dates back to 2004, almost a year after the founding blocks of the Windsor Historical Society were set. It was taken by the owner of Victoria Tavern in Old Walkerville; one of the oldest parts of Windsor.

L-R: Micheal Gladstone White – Paul Laforet – Louis Gouin – Larry Costello – Sean – Sam Meddaka – Dann Bouzide.

Those who don’t know the Windsor Historical Society, it’s a non-for-profit organization well known in our community for its Veterans Memories Project. It hosts an annual event where students from all over Windsor and Essex County meet our veterans. In this event, dubbed the “Largest living history classroom in Canada”, students get a rare chance to ask our veterans questions, and listen to some of their war stories.

Check out their website if you are interested or to make a contribution if you choose to.
